Default Driving in Russia

Do you really want to take a chance?

It seems as if brakes are optional and onboard cameras are required.

Hi Mike !

Well as i have seen in Moscow i would never drive ther, thye drive really crazy ther and it is whit your live at risk every time. Even when go to the place wher you cross the road it is very dangerous and you risk to get kill ther if you are not carefull.

We have seen alot of accidents whit drunk drivers killing people just waiting at the bus stop . Russia is a big country and ofcours ther will be more accidents on the road then in other countries becours off ther are many car ownerw the and my wife says that inspection on the cars are ust some thing you pay for and never go ther like it is here in littel Denmark if we do not go ther the police will come to your home and take the number plates off your car and you will get a ticket for not showing up.

I agree Astra!
As of you might know I drive the big trucks here for a living. I've done road building for 38 years so far and I estimate that I've driven over one and a half million miles. (2.4 million kilometers) I've moved some very large and dangerous loads safely. Total weight of 275,000 lbs and 175 feet long sometimes.
BUT I have no desire to risk driving in the FSU.

Well it is funny then we are colleagues becours i drive a huge truck to here in Danmark i drive between jutland and sealand but i have bin driving in sweden, norway and finland for about 16 eyars befor so i have also driven the wolrd around to times or some thing like that.

is it your Perterbilt on the photo ??

Yes, that's my old horse. I bought that one in 1997 new and I plan on keeping it until I retire.
It's got a 550 hp Cat engine, 18 speed transmission, and 46,000 rear ends on air ride. It works well for my application. It used to have a big sleeping compartment behind the cab but I removed it many years ago.
Right now I have 2 Pete's and 2 International's/Navastars and 13 different trailers.

Wuw mike i alway wantet to drive an amerikan truck like that one Rubber Duck drowe in Convoy if you seen the movie. My favorite American truck is well it is not all american but it is Swedish but build in the states, it is a VOLVO VN70 that one whit a huge cabin on it . Thye are not allow here in scandianavia becours off the lengt. ( 12 meters)

Our trucks must only be 17 meters long whit a trailer on it . Then we have some speciel trailers called link modul it is one small trailer and then a 13,6 meter trailer behind then we are up to 25,25 meters long . But thye are only allow on special roads and not i the city .

The truck i drive to day is SCANIA and the one i had before was M.A.N it is a german truck but a really good and comfeteble truck and the best truck i ever had the plesure to drive.......
